The Singapore Garden Festival opens to the public on Sat 23 July, but we had a sneak peek a day before! Steal ideas from the finalists of the Balcony Gardens competition for your own balcony! Greenery was also incorporated in the living spaces next to the balconies.
Pining for Childhood by Gary Nai of Greencrafts & Design Pte Ltd – Gold award
The designer wanted to recreate the small village feel of his grandparents’ home, and incorporated greenery into vintage furnishings.
The Bibliophile’s Garden by Erin Gotangco of Earthscape Concept Pte Ltd – Silver award
As suggested in the title, this is the perfect space to read a book in, immersing its book-loving occupant in restful lush greenery.
Transcending Boundaries by Andy Eng of Nyee Phoe Flower Garden Pte Ltd – Gold award and Best of Show
This winning entry featured lush greenery made up of herbs and spices, which attract butterflies into the space.
The Garden Studio by Anita Lim of Water Concepts & Consultancy Pte Ltd – Bronze award
The designer wanted to create a soothing and tranquil sanctuary with lots of relaxing greenery and the sound of water.
Vintage Bicycle by Lee Meng Kwan of Hua Hng Trading Co Pte Ltd – Silver award
The designer wanted to reflect the nostalgia of a bygone time, when life was more idyllic, with colonial-style design. The bicycle is in the foreground, almost completely covered with ferns.
