A simple diamond pattern like this one can jazz up your bedroom or study room easily. Here's what you will need for this Dulux tutorial: two different paint colours, paint rollers (standard and small), paint tray, ruler, a thick card to create your stencil, a pencil, a spirit level to ensure accuracy, masking tape, paint brushes and scissors.
Start off by making a stencil in the shape of the geometric pattern you want to create – in this case, a diamond. Use a ruler and pencil to sketch out your shape onto a thick piece of card, and then cut out with scissors.
Using your stencil and pencil, outline the design you want to create on the wall. To achieve an even pattern, we recommend starting from the centre of your area to be painted and moving your way outward.
Use a spirit level to ensure you’re drawing perfectly straight lines. Tape over the pencil lines using decorator’s masking tape (good quality low-tack tape peels off easily without removing any paint). Ensure the tape is firmly pressed down so paint doesn’t seep underneath.
To ensure a crisp line, make sure to paint over the masking tape line slightly. Load up your brush/roller with a small amount of paint at a time and stop any paint from seeping under the tape and spoiling your design.
Apply as many coats as necessary – we recommend at least 2 coats. Remove the masking tape before the final coat finished drying to reveal your clean crisp design.
