Use a monochrome colour palette for your home – you'll be surprised just how good grey, white and black look together! We look at how the designers at Edgeline Planners used this simple colour scheme in a townhouse in Bukit Timah, to create a quietly cosmopolitan living area.
The grey sofa, TV feature wall, rug and curtains create a soothing and consistent look for the living room. Their different textures make the room look cosy, not cold.
The wall surface also sports some texture to bring some depth to the surface. Colourful art pieces add personality to the space and breaks the monotony of the wall.
Glossy black surfaces in the dining area create a sense of drama, as with the high-back dining chairs, and decorative pendant lamp.
In the second living room, a floor-to-ceiling custom-made bookshelf takes centre stage. The rest of the space is kept neutral, with a light shade of grey on the walls and a simple black sofa, to balance the visual "clutter"of the many items on the shelf.
