Where can you find vintage cast iron shop scales, mid-century-Modern wood furniture, and antique Chinese porcelain, all in one place? Only at the new Hotlotz auction house, which just started operations in Singapore. The idea of auctions is a pretty new one to us, but it's a great way to get your hands on hard-to-get collectible items that were once in private collections. And pay exactly what you want for it!
Managing director Matthew Elton.
Auctions are held every Saturday morning at 10am, with the catalogue available for viewing online before the auction, and at their premises at Cendex Centre. There's even a Hotlotz canteen offering light snacks for refreshments. Even if you're not selling or buying anything, it's worth going just to soak in the excitement of a live auction! If you can't be there, you can also submit your bid online, or bid by phone.
Some items up for this Saturday's Interiors & Antiques auction, including the blue lacquered Chinese bookcase (estimate $700-$900) and a pair of antique English Greyhound pen stands (estimate $200-$300).
Furniture from different eras and cultures are offered here. The items are sourced mainly from local collectors, and abroad as well. Buyers pay 19.5% commission to Hotlotz as a buyer's premium on top of the hammer price, so remember to factor that in when you bid!
A beautiful new tan leather portable bar (estimate $500-$700)
As the want to keep auctions open to all, they are keeping estimates low – the minimum bid for this vintage set of scales is just $80!
