Small apartments in cities around the world are what urbanites are struggling with today.

In response to this problem, Ikea is collaborating with American startup Ori, which specialises in robotic furniture, to create the Rognan collection — a movable system that maximises the use of floor space in the home.

What can you expect to get out of the Rognan collection?

Well, it offers a storage solution that has sufficient space for a variety of things including books, organising baskets, as well as a wardrobe too.

A seating area can also be carved out of the cabinetry system so you can have a dedicated living area when you move Rognan flushed against the wall.

You won’t be short of a study area too, despite limited floor space in your home, as the Rognan has a built-in pullout table top.

When it’s time for bed, simply roll it out from its hidden storage. The cabinet is large enough to even hide a queen-sized bed.

Excited about this collection yet?

Ikea will be launching the Rognan in Hong Kong and Japan next year! There’s no news yet whether it will be available in Singapore, but let’s keep our fingers crossed!
