Samsung

These days, the kitchen is no longer just a place to cook — it has evolved to become the heart of the home. It’s now a central place where you gather the family for breakfast, make plans for a healthier lifestyle, and sing along to your playlist at the top of your lungs while doing meal prep.

It’s with this in mind that Samsung has just introduced its new lineup of the Family Hub Smart Fridge, a next-generation refrigerator that doesn’t just look stylish, but also packs a punch with its range of smart features. The new lineup includes two side-by-side refrigerators that are not only at a more affordable price point, but also has expanded storage thanks to Samsung’s SpaceMax Technology, which uses thinner walls without compromising on insulation or increasing external size.

Here are five reasons why the Family Hub is a worthy addition to your home.

1. It makes healthy eating and meal planning so much easier.

Always leaving meal decisions to the last minute? The Samsung Family Hub can help you to structure your meal planning and make better food choices. All you have to do is key in your dietary preferences, and the Family Hub will create customised meal recommendations with its Smart Recipes function.

Too busy to plan meals? You won’t have to worry thanks to its AI-powered Quick Plan feature (within the Meal Planner app), which can come up with a week-long meal plan based on your food and dietary preferences — perfect for those of you who are busy with work but want to maintain healthy eating habits.

2. It helps you live more sustainably and avoid food wastage.

Already at the grocery store? With the View Inside feature, you’ll be able to check exactly what’s in the fridge and what needs stocking up from your smartphone1 via the fridge’s built-in camera. Being able to instantly view the interior of your fridge helps prevent you from purchasing duplicates of items that are already in there, saving you money and avoiding unnecessary food waste.

You also won’t have to worry about forgotten food in the fridge. With the Food List feature (from the View Inside app), you’ll be able to see which items are expiring soon2. Together with the Smart Recipes’ recommendations, which help you ensure that all the ingredients in your fridge are utilised before they go bad, you can rest assured that nothing goes to waste.

3. It helps you stay connected with your family’s activities.

Remember those days of using magnets to put up your drawings and reminders on the fridge? Now that we’ve entered the paperless age, the Family Hub has also evolved accordingly — with its 21.5″ Full HD touchscreen bulletin board, you can now share notes, stickers, drawings, photos and videos for everyone in the household to interact with on the Family Board, right from your smartphone1.

Our favourite is the Calendar app, which allows you to stay in sync with your family members’ schedules and know when that dentist appointment is coming up, or when to pick up your kids from their enrichment classes. The Morning Brief feature and Bixby Voice Assistant3 — which is able to recognise your voice — also gives you a personalised day’s agenda and the weather forecast and reminds you of food that is expiring soon, so you can plan for your day ahead.

4. It turns your kitchen into an entertainment hub.

Rather than having to take your tablet, smart phone, and/or Bluetooth speaker into the kitchen, you can now get your entertainment right from the Family Hub. Its high-quality speakers and built-in Spotify4 and TuneIn apps allow you to play your favourite music while meal prepping, and the Smart View feature mirrors Samsung TVs5 and Samsung mobile devices6, so you can continue that K-drama serial or view photos or videos that are in your phone.

5. It can control the rest of your smart devices from one central hub.

The Family Hub can also monitor and control the rest of your compatible smart products7 throughout the home. You can switch lights on or off from the Family Hub, check who’s at the front door, and even control your QuickDrive washing machine and POWERbot vacuum cleaner while you’re busy in the kitchen. What’s more, your Family Hub can also connect to your smartphone via Bluetooth and let you make and receive calls8 hands-free via Bixby voice control3 even when your hands are full.

The Lineup

The complete lineup includes three models that come in two shades: Black Caviar and Gentle Black Matt. With its elegant flat doors and recessed handles, and a fingerprint-resistant finish, these refrigerators will make a stylish statement in your home.
