Following a quick renovation this month, design store kapok, at the National Design Centre in Middle Road, has reopened with a new look.
The snazzy new interior features pale wood shelves and round display stands with slats painted in kapok's signature hunter green shade. The store also looks brighter and more spacious.
Hong Kong-based studio AaaM, which is short for Architecture as a Medium, was behind the four-year-old store's revamp.
Along with a new space, kapok has also introduced new pieces from ready-to-wear brand A.P.C. and watch label Cluse.
Also, check out new furniture label Reddie, founded by Hong Kong-based furniture designer Caroline Olah, at the store. Kapok carries one of Reddie's signature pieces, the Suzy ($449), a solid teak wood side table with a powder-coated frame that doubles as a mobile laptop workstation.
The store will host a Picnic Garden Party on July 8 to celebrate the revamp. There will be two workshops ($85 a participant) – a moss terrarium-making class and a resin-painting class – that are open to the public.
