Chuck the sponge into the microwave for a minute or so – make sure it’s wet and doesn’t contain any metal parts. For hygiene purposes, do remember to replace your sponges every few weeks.

Soak the mop heads in a sanitising solution, such as bleach, for 15-20 minutes after each use. Use different mops in each areas of your house to prevent the spread of germs from one place to another. Colour-code the handles so you can remember the usage of each mop.
