The cool Nixie Machine beats all the industrial-style clocks out there hands down with a ‘floating’ number display that tells the time. This is built on a cool retro-futuristic-looking base of machine-like brass and black metal parts.

But it’s not just a clock. German artist Frank Buchwald made this timepiece for the M.A.D. Gallery in Switzerland, and the clock is named for the Nixie tubes it uses, which are rare and vintage electrical parts sourced from Germany. These tubes are used to present numbers using glow discharge.

Now can someone please build me one?

The six tubes are presented as three pairs – for hours, minutes and seconds, or day, month and year.

The Nixie Machine is available in a limited edition of 12 pieces.
