Pets

Diligently clean after your pets and keep them away from fabrics like furniture upholstery. A better option would be to remove carpets and rugs and consider hard-floor surfaces for areas where your pets frequent.

Cigarette smoke

Nothing seeps into and sticks to a place like cigarette smoke. Wash walls, replace curtains and wipe blinds thoroughly. Freshen surfaces where cigarettes come into close contact, by spritzing them with a solution of water and lemon juice.

Mould

You can usually detect the presence of mould by its musty, organic smell. Check for water leaks since mould and mildew thrive in damp places. Make sure rooms are well-ventilated too.

Cockroaches

These pests give an unpleasant and pungent odour. Dispose garbage daily, especially food waste. If there is a cockroach infestation, call an exterminator.
