Vacuum sealers help you store leftover meat, fruits and vegetables for much longer, but is a fancy appliance really necessary?

Luckily, we’ve got a simple and easy way to vacuum seal food without using an actual sealer. All you need is a bowl of water and a ziplock bag -- watch the video to find out how.

1. Place the food you intend to seal in a ziplock bag. Seal it, but leave an inch open for the air to escape.

2. Submerge the bag in a bowl of water. The pressure of the water will push out the air and mould the bag around the food.

3. Seal it up fully and dry the bag thoroughly before putting it in the freezer. Watch the video here.
