What started as a 15-seater burger joint in New York’s SoHo neighbourhood has grown into an empire of 11 restaurants across the globe. Now, you can have Black Tap's signature gourmet burgers and CrazyShake milkshakes in their 140-seater restaurant in Marina Bay Sands Singapore.
Expect crowd favourites like the award-winning Greg Norman Burger (expect a stunning combo of wagyu beef, house buttermilk-dill sauce, blue cheese and arugula), Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and Spicy Korean BBQ wings.
Another cool feature at Black Tap is its edgy New York-esque interior design, conceptualised by Julie Mulligan. The architect is a partner and director of design and development of Black Tap (and wife to owner of Black Tap, Chris Barish), and has infused graffiti culture and street art style to the Singapore restaurant.
Julie gave Black Tap a black-and-white colour scheme (a New Yorker's favourite colours), punctuated with vibrant and larger-than-life old school neon art. "The open atrium space takes advantage of the light and views while our open kitchen and shake bar keeps our energy alive and add to the personal connection we have with the customers," she adds.
At the Crazyshake bar, you can watch shake attendants stir up more than 15 milkshakes, including the original Cotton Candy strawberry shake and Bam Fruity Pebbles shake.
Black Tap's Cotton Candy strawberry shake features a blue and pink pearl chocolate rim, a pink lollipop, rock candy, whipped cream and cotton candy. Yum!
Black Tap also worked local artist Has J. "We like to work with artists whose work bridges the gap between street art and fine art. He is so precise with a spray can and has a really unique style, which taps into New York City graffiti style while offering something completely individual and of the moment. We loved his work so much, we have since worked with him on an installation for Black Tap Bahrain," shares Julie.
Stripes and subway tiles, along with plywood and booth seating, make up an edgy yet down-to-earth design. "Stripes are classic and add pop of energy to any space. They are attention grabbing, and keep your eyes moving around to catch glimpses of all the other great details. They work everywhere -- from Black Tap to the courtyard at the Palais Royal in Paris," says Julie.
