If you feel like having eastern Mediterranean cuisine, drop by Bakalaki, the newest Greek restaurant in Singapore. It’s located in Tiong Bahru, and was designed by the award-winning architect Dimitris Economou.
Bakalaki exudes a relaxed and homey atmosphere, thanks to its earthy tones and wood furniture. We like that it’s a departure from the conventional Greek Island colours of blue and white!
To create an authentic Greek experience, Dimitris uses natural wood and metal furnishings imported from Greece.
But it has an element of Asia, too. Elements of Feng Shui was incorporated into the design. “From the angles of the bar, [to the waterfall outside the restaurant], the Western interior has used eastern elements of Feng Shui to enhance the feel and nature of the venue,” says the Bakalaki team.
This bottle wall was handmade, and proudly represents the Greek iconic flag as well as the country's wine heritage.
Bakalaki offers authentic cuisine made with ingredients from Greek suppliers (including seafood specialties, yum!), a unique selection of Greek wines and beers, and a deli that sells cheeses, olives, honey, pulses, sauces, and herbs.
