What does Singapore look like through the eyes of a millenial? For the answer, we gave 30 year-old photographer-slash-influencer Audi Khalid the task of defining what home means through his lens. The 30 year-old photographer is co-founder of the Urban Aperture studio, and has been dabbling in cameras since the age of eight.
Audi’s previous shot of the heartland garnered the attention of prime minister Lee Hsien Loong, making him a prime candidate for this assignment. The result, presented here, is an interesting collage of a modern metropolis co-existing harmoniously with segments of lush greenery and low rise colonial architecture. See what he has to say about Singapore.
LOOKING BACK: “One of the byproducts of a country in rapid development is the juxtaposition of past and present, not just in terms of old shophouses versus HDB flats and modern architecture, but also in the lifestyle and mentality of the old and young, the progressive and the traditional.”
THE NEXT LAP: “Singapore’s greatest artistic endeavour, to me, is in successfully designing spaces that merge not just the old and new but nature and high-rise living as well. This densely populated urban environment becomes a sight of beauty when there is a balance of life, culture and greenery, all co-existing together seamlessly.”
