Whether you’re a huge foodie or a coffee junkie, enjoying a meal at these chic cafes will be a great way to spend a weekend. We round up nine cafes with the most Instagram-worthy minimalist interiors.
1. Atlas Coffeehouse
Opened last January by the people behind Assembly Coffee, the cafe (above) sports a bold navy-blue wall, complete with marble tiling and minimal furniture, while allowing natural light in with large glass-panel windows. Another big draw: its ultra-fluffy butterscotch banana pancakes.
2. Curious Palette
White walls, wooden tables and hanging bulbs add up well for a space (above) that isn’t only cosy, but also pleasing to the eye – and the camera. Founded by the same folks behind the popular Strangers’ Reunion along Kampong Bahru Road, the menu at Curious Palette offers standard cafe fare such as croque madame (ham and cheese sandwich topped with egg), but also includes winning desserts like berry ricotta hotcakes.
3. Hyde & Co.
Simplicity is key with Hyde & Co. Everything, down to the tiles on the English-inspired cafe’s countertop, is kept to a pristine, calming white. The quote on its wall (above) is also the star of many Instagram photos taken here.
4. Island Cafe
This quiet space tucked away on the fourth level of Tangs Plaza is the perfect destination to rest tired feet and have a few nibbles after a long day of shopping. And while its tropical-themed straw chairs and tiling make it feel like something out of a Bali resort, its al fresco rooftop area (above) comes with a sleek, polished marble-clad bartop counter (trust us, it’s a great spot for flatlays).
5. Luxe Singapore
Originating from Sydney, the cafe is speckled with woody tones (above) from Scandinavian-style furniture. On the menu, Luxe serves up mouth-watering Australian and South-east Asian fusion dishes, such as grilled barramundi with rojak flower butter sauce.
6. The Tastemaker
Fans of Scandinavian design will appreciate The Tastemaker’s quaint interior. Besides whitewashed walls and wooden furniture, the cafe (above) is also dotted with refreshing bits of green from hanging and potted plants.
7. Pacamara Boutique Coffee Roasters
Like Hyde & Co, Pacamara also favours an all-white aesthetic and has plenty of natural light, but its decor (above) carries a tinge of industrial chic, thanks to hanging lamps and white Tolix stools.
8. Boufe Boutique Cafe
The one-year-old cafe with an obvious love of monochrome interiors has been a regular haunt among avid cafe-hoppers and shopaholics alike. Why? The space (above) marries the cafe concept with retail by incorporating an in-house boutique, which offers everything from accessories to homeware.
9. Gallery & Co. Cafe
It’s all about clean lines and shapes here, although there’s a touch of quirkiness with an eclectic mix of furniture and textures. The cafe (above) is an extension of Gallery & Co., the National Gallery’s retail space, and is already packed to the brim on weekends. Its menu features a multitude of savoury and sweet treats from various names in the cafe industry, such as Plain Vanilla (cupcakes) and Papa Palheta (coffee).
