RH Guesthouse New York: Luxury hotel with no children, no pets, no photos rule

No children, no pets, and no publishing photos of the property on social media – welcome to RH’s ultra-exclusive luxury hospitality concept.

"This is not a hotel.” That was the opening line of RH Guesthouse New York’s website. “It is not for everyone, no children or pets, maximum two guests per room, no foldout beds, no thumping music, no loud or grumpy guests.

RH is an American company founded as Restoration Hardware in 1979 in California, known for its expansive furniture collections retailed worldwide. It was renamed RH in 2012 as it underwent an initial public offering and trades under the NY Stock Exchange under the symbol RH.

Today, RH prides itself as a curator of design, taste and style in the luxury lifestyle market, offering its collections through galleries and online through a host of websites.

RH Guesthouse New York Opened in Sep 2022

Launched in September 2022, RH Guesthouse New York was the company's first foray into the hospitality operation - although it feels like a natural expansion of its businesses.

Located in New York’s Historic Meatpacking District, RH Guesthouse occupies a restored triangular loft building constructed in 1887.

RH Guesthouse only has a total of 10 Rooms & Suites

It only has six rooms, three suites and one residence belonging to the company’s CEO that’s only “sometimes” available for booking.

It is conceptualised as “an integration of services, surfaces and spaces designed to erase the chaos of the outside world” that is worth all its rules.

“Privacy is the one thing everyone has given away on social media, and the one thing the internet has taken away, as you can access anyone online,” says RH CEO and chairman Gary Friedman.

Privacy set to be an important market

“We believe privacy is going to become a large and important market, and the RH Guesthouse has an opportunity to define that new market with an unseen-before level of design, quality and hospitality.”

The building features all the glamorous old-world design elements – floor-to-ceiling European oak, vein-cut Italian travertine, Italian wool-velvet upholstery, and stainless-steel accents – that create statement spaces at once timeless and contemporary.

The 500 sq ft Guest Rooms and 1,100 sq ft Suites, each featuring a trademarked thermo-regulated bed, two bathrooms and a fully stocked gourmet pantry, are meticulously designed and exquisitely fitted to match their architectural shell.

The singular Residence is a 2,600 sq ft, full open-floor private penthouse with coffered ceilings, Corinthian columns and herringbone floors. Its amenities include a travertine fireplace, a chef’s kitchen, a travertine dining table that seats eight and a cinematic view of the Big Apple.

RH Guesthouse Reservation and Prices

The Guest Room starts at US$3,500 per night with minimum stay of two nights while the Residence starts at US$30,000 with the same minimum stay.

The Guesthouse’s The Dining Room & Terrace is a dramatic live-fire restaurant serving only the most sumptuous dishes, while The Champagne & Caviar Bar in the cellar is a 32-seat joint serving the highest grades of caviar and a curated list of fine champagnes.

The amenities also include The Rooftop Garden and a Pool & Dining Terrace with a 12-metre mosaic infinity pool where you can enjoy meals without “silly rules, like breakfast ends at 11."
