HSBC Revolution Credit Card: 20 Points or 8 miles per $1 spent on furniture & home appliances
By Home & Decor Team -
The HSBC Revolution Credit Card was first introduced in Singapore around 2009 and 2010.
Back then, it was seen as an average credit card that offered 5 reward points (2 miles per dollar) on categories such as online, dining, and entertainment spend.
The breakthrough for this credit card came in August 2020 when HSBC removed the annual fee completely (still no annual fee today!) and bumped up rewards to 10× points (4 miles per dollar) on contactless and online payments. From this move alone, the HSBC Revolution credit card skyrocketed in popularity to become a household name in Singapore’s credit card scene.
HSBC Revolution Rewards Credit Card (formerly Visa Platinum) is one of the best earners for miles. It is now Visa Signature.
20 points per $1 spend
In July 2026, the bonus rewards points system is still very attractive. You can get up to the highest 20 reward points per $1 spend (or 8 miles per dollar) - but you will need to have an individual HSBC Everyday Global Account (SGD savings account) and keep at least $50,000 there for the month.
10 points per $1 spend
If not, you will just earn the usual bonus 10 reward points per $1 spend, or 4 miles per dollar, with your credit card. Here’s a summary table to see the current bonus points system.
| HSBC Revolution Credit Card | Credit card & $50,000 savings | Just credit card |
|---|---|---|
| Base Point | 1 per $1 spent | 1 per $1 spent |
| Bonus Points | 19 per $1 spent | 9 per $1 spent |
| Bonus Points Cap | 22,800 per calendar month | 9,000 per calendar month |
| Maximum Spend Eligible | $1,200 per month | $1,000 per month |
Looking at the maximum number of bonus points you can earn in a month, you are looking at a total spend of $1,200 or $1,000 per month. So, this credit card is currently more suitable for you if you’re buying smaller ticket items like home appliances or decor that won’t cross a total bill of $1,000 thereabouts.
Likewise, this card will suit you if you plan to stagger your home appliance purchases slowly, month on month. If you are in a hurry to buy many things at once, then this won’t be ideal for you.
Home Appliance & Furniture Shops
Your transactions will be eligible at home appliance and electronics stores (MCC 5732) like Courts, Best Denki, Harvey Norman, or Gain City.
| Shop Description | Merchant Category Code (MCC) |
|---|---|

| Miscellaneous general merchandise stores (e.g. Shopee, Atome) | 5399 |
| Electronics sales (eg. Challenger, Parisilk) | 5732 |
| Variety stores (eg. Daiso, Donki, Miniso, MUJI) | 5331 |
| Taobao | Could be 5310, 5311, 5999 |

However, renovation and construction contractors or interior design companies (typically MCC 1520, 1799, 7399, or 8911) are not considered eligible transactions.
Contactless Visa PayWave & Online Shopping
You will need to shop in-store and pay with Visa PayWave contactless-ly (Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay). Otherwise, you can also pay online via Visa.
How to convert HSBC points to miles?
You will then need to use the HSBC mobile app’s Rewards section to enroll in the “HSBC Mileage Programme.” Then, link your frequent flyer account.
There is an annual fee of $40 plus GST (although this can sometimes be waived with 9,000 reward points). After paying this $40, you don’t need to pay anymore for the conversion of reward points to miles for the next 12 months.
HSBC features one of the wider and more flexible airline networks in Singapore. However, transfer ratios differ by airline.

The minimum transfer is usually 10,000 miles. A unique benefit of HSBC is that after the first 10,000 miles, you can often transfer in tiny increments (as low as 2-mile blocks), which prevents orphan points from being stuck in your account.
