House Tour: 8,000sqf two-storey home with modern classical theme in Singapore by Home Philosophy

It’s not easy interpreting a modern classical style for a home because it’s always a challenge for designers to balance the various design elements and details. So when local architect firm Home Philosophy undertook this project to transform this 8,000sqf house into a home with touches of understated luxury and a modern classical look, they went all out to ensure that every detail was carefully attended to.
At the same time, the design had to take into account the local climate and weather. One of the first things the design team did was to create a grand entrance with double volume height. An enormous three-tier Baccarat chandelier with glittering ornaments sets the scene, accented by large slaps of white marble flooring.
The neutral scheme and elegant details extends throughout the entire home, from the living spaces to the bedrooms.
In the master bath, a freestanding tub sits in the middle of the room, flanked by an enclosed shower on one side and the WC on the water.
In keeping with the modern classical approach, this bathroom features a beautifully designed mosaic wall. The darker colours stand out against the light neutral scheme.
In this drawing room, finely detailed upholstery and a large carpet brings the various elements together, according the space with a cosy atmosphere.
The sitting corner close to the side garden offers punches of colour, accented by a European bar counter.
This Isacco Agostoni table features intricate wood marquetry with in-laid mother or pearl accents.
At one side of the living space, a red open kitchen counter injects life and vitality to the home.
In the powder room, the breathtaking grains of the onyx marble become the highlight of the space.
