While semi-detached houses are common in the private estates around Singapore, many of the designs look dated and monotonous.
Faced with the task of re-designing this semi-detached house, the architect team from Aamer Taher proposed an entirely new concept to the homeowner, and that was to turn the semi-detached into a house of its own.
Free-Standing House
According to the design team, the proposal to turn the semi-detached into a free-standing structure results has several advantages.
Not only does it allow the home to look unique and special, the move will also help to bring light into the left side of the home, which was previously connected to the neighbouring house.
Concrete & Steel Structure
Along with the transformation, the team at Aamer Taher also created a bold and captivating exterior design.
It was helmed by a central block featuring boardformed concrete cladding and a zig-zag steel beam structure.
Breezy Home Layout
With the new layout, the entrance leads into a delightfully breezy and spacious walkway with a sunroof overhead.
Light streams into the space during the day while providing a view of the night sky in the evening.
Spiral Staircase
The spiral stairway at the back of the house was also given a facelift, making it look modern and chic.
Bathroom
The bathrooms are designed in line with the contemporary look throughout the house.
Living Area
The living spaces on the ground floor merge effortlessly with the outdoor area.
Wood on Black Interior
The rich gold tones of the wood flooring contrast beautifully against the black metallic beams.
Harmonious Flow
The spaces in the home flow harmoniously from one room to the next.
Living Room
The living spaces are visually connected to the rest of the home.
One can see plenty of greenery throughout the home.
