The owner of this 1,000 sq ft (92 sqm) four-room HDB flat at The Pinnacle @ Duxton is the founder of design consultancy She Designs He Builds, which is behind the simple yet chic interiors of trendy cafes such as The Plain and Ronin.
She wanted the place to be simple and light, and do without visually heavy built-in cabinets. Grafunkt’s AA shelf was chosen for the study as its design echoes the upturned edge of the living room’s metal shelf.
Vintage 1940s Armchair
The oversized pendant lamps were chosen to make the ceiling feel loftier. The yellow armchair is a vintage design from the 1940s that was passed down from her grand uncle.
Recessed Shelf
The metal shelf that the homeowner created from a recess in the living room wall is one of features she is particularly proud of in her home. Displayed on it are all of her favourite things.
Open-Concept Kitchen
She got the contractor to open up the kitchen and replace the original tiles to match the ones in the common area. She also replaced part of the study room’s walls with full-height glass panels.
Study Desk
The study desk displays a curated selection of knick-knacks precious to the homeowner.
