With a thoughtfully-designed user experience and easy adjustability, the Omnidesk Ascent proves to be worthy lifestyle investment for the family.

It's old news by now that sitting down at your desk all day can result in health problems such as poor circulation. A standing desk solves the problem by letting you stand up while replying emails or even taking Zoom meetings.
But a standing desk is far more than another piece of furniture for your home office — it's a lifestyle investment. The Omnidesk Ascent shines in this aspect, as its versatility and adjustability enables it to adapt to your family's preferences. Whether it's lowering the table for a child to use while studying, raising it for a very tall family member, or setting reminders to change posture, the Omnidesk lends itself effortlessly to different situations. We also love that it's thoughtfully designed for the best user experience — read on to find out what we mean.
Look and construction
One of the most important aspects of a standing desk is stability — you don’t want one that judders every time it moves, sending your coffee spilling over your keyboard and notes.
The Omnidesk Ascent has no such problems. Its movement is powerful and smooth, with just the right amount of acceleration that’s fast enough while keeping things stable. When we timed the transformation from sitting to standing, it took just 7.7 seconds to complete the movement. This means minimal disruption for users — you can continue typing that email or updating the spreadsheet with barely a pause.
The sturdy base is made of forged steel, and comes in black or white to match every type of surface they have. They have a total of three collections:
Ascent, which is a simple and sleek black or white
Ascent Wildwood+, which comes in red cedarwood, pheasantwood, and acacia options
Ascent Eco, which uses sustainable bamboo
The Ichi collection, which features gorgeous solid live-edge wood tabletops of suar wood or teak wood with epoxy resin
The Ichi Kawa stands out as indisputably the most beautiful and unique of the collection, with its tapered live edge and bright blue resin running like a river down the middle of the wood. It’s a desk that looks good even when there’s nothing on it.
The size is extremely generous — you can place two 27” monitors side by side quite comfortably on the Small size (48 inches length). There are also the Large (60 inches) and XL (72 inches), which can definitely take three or even four monitors, or work as a shared desk.
We love the width of 30 inches as well, which gives plenty of room in front for not just the keyboard, but also for creative and writing work. Very handy if you deal with a lot of paper or just have a lot of knickknacks on the desk.
The controller is situated in a discreet corner, and you can opt to have it on the left or right, a thoughtful option for the lefties among us.
Adjustability and safety
Other than the smooth and powerful movement, the Omnidesk Ascent comes equipped with thoughtful safety functions. You can set the minimum and maximum height for safety, so it doesn’t yank out the power cable, for instance.
There’s also a collision sensor that enables the movement to stop when it senses resistance, and you can even adjust its sensitivity. Although a situation where this is required might be rare, it’s good to know that you’ll never risk being crushed under the desk if someone sets it off while you’re underneath adjusting cables.
A bonus of an adjustable desk is its versatility. Families will be glad to know that this desk can be adjusted to a minimum of 63.8cm, which is suitable for even young children’s use. The reverse is also applicable — it can be raised to a height that’s comfortable for even an extremely tall person to use as a standing desk.
Adjustment is very simple: just press the up or down controls on the controller, or use the Omnidesk Life app. You can save up to four different memory profiles on the controller itself or up to nine on the app, so each family member can set and adjust the desk to their preferred height with the touch of a button.
The Omnidesk Ascent is very precise when it comes to adjustability, which is useful when you need to move it up or down by a few centimetres — like when you’re wearing different shoes or want to adjust your posture, for instance.
If you have little ones who like to press buttons at an inconvenient time, there's a "Lock Desk" function on the app that you can enable.
Neatness
The Omnidesk Ascent comes with its own built-in power bar hidden beneath the table, so that all your devices and power cables move together when the table rises or descends. Combined with the cable management bar, all your power cables and wires can be tucked away neatly out of sight.
We like that there are five different exit point for the cables: three points at the back, and one left and right. This lets us connect to different items like our table lamp, phone charger, diffuser, and laptop where they are, instead of having cables strewn all over the desk.
Customisability
Nearly all options can be customised, thanks to the companion Omnidesk Life app, which pairs with the desk via Bluetooth for fine-tuning your preferences.
Other than the height of the desk, the LED lights on the controller are adjustable too, with six different colour combinations. They can automatically dim based on your preference or stay on.
If you’re health-conscious, you’ll also be glad to know you can set reminders to switch from sitting to standing throughout the day. The control panel will vibrate to let you know when it’s time.
Our overall verdict? Though the Omnidesk Ascent may be quite an investment, it's a worthwhile one that can last you a long time. Its sturdy construction and versatility means you probably never have to buy another desk again for your family, since the desk can be adjusted through your kids' growing years. And with the convenience of adjustment and movement reminders, it's a must for anyone who wants to keep themselves active while staying productive.
