Thread Count

This is the number of threads woven into every square inch of fabric (though some brands count in in square centimetres). The higher the thread count, the softer the linen.

Natural vs Synthetic fabrics

Examples of the natural fabrics are cotton, silk, linen and wool. They tend to be more “breathable”, meaning they are cooler and  more comfortable to sleep on.

Examples of synthetic fabrics are nylon and polyester. They are value for money, durable and winkle resistant, but sleeping on full synthetic sheets can be warm and uncomfortable.

Type of weave

This describes the way fibre have been woven together. Fibres that are tightly woven in sturdy fabrics, while fibres that are woven loosely create flimsy fabrics. The weave determines how smooth, soft, durable and even how shiny the sheet will be.
