Dengue can strike any time. During this vacation period, homes are often empty, which are easy breeding grounds for mosquitoes. Before packing your bags, keep your home mosquito-free with this checklist.

Take note of your bathroom
Your bathroom is one of the major spots that can be a breeding ground for mosquitoes so make sure you clear out all traces of water to ensure the area is completely dry.
Cover everything
Toilet bowls, bamboo pole holders and floor traps.
Get rid of stagnant water
Check your flower pots, vases, pet bowls and any container that might collect water. Turn empty pails and watering cans over and store them under the shelter.
Seal up the gaps in your windows
Don’t forget the doors as well. This prevents mosquitoes from entering your home.
Clear blockages
Add BTI (a non-chemical insecticide) or a sand granular insecticide to roof gutters.
