After a full refurbishment, the Belmond La Résidence d’Angkor (Cambodia) has finally reopened! It was designed by leading international designers and architects, GA Design and Beyond Design, who took inspiration from the classical Khmer era and juxtaposed it with contemporary Cambodian art, connecting past with the present.
Guests will love the locally handwoven jewel-coloured silks, traditionally crafted hard wood furnishings and detailed ironmongery created by local artisans!
Design lesson: A ceiling fan will not mar the look of your home. Instead, it can give an authentic, rustic vibe to the space.
Design lesson: For an airy and well-ventilated bathroom, go for open shelving below the sink (it works best if you do not need this space for storage!) and louvre doors/windows.
Design lesson: Greenery in the bathroom, whether from the views outside or a few potted plants/flowers, will do wonders! They also break up a monochrome colour palette.
Design lesson: Wooden textures or wood furniture is the easiest way to imbue a nature-inspired vibe. Hues like cream and mustard yellow also help!
