Always wanted to capture amazing photos of your home or furniture? We asked Dionna Lee and Sean Ashley of creative firm Oooze, as well as Instagrammer and product stylist Allison Goh, for some expert tips.

NAME YOUR FAVOURITE PROPS.

Allison: Fresh food with different textures, silverware I find at flea markets, and natural lighting.

Dionna & Sean: We love exploring ordinary objects like fruit and flowers, but also curiosities such as crystals and antique instruments.

HOW DO YOU MAKE A PHOTO INTERESTING?

Allison: It’s all about creating a flow – let the eyes of your viewer wander around the shapes and textures used in the photo.

D&S: Playing with various materials and scales of objects can be very useful when composing an image.

WHAT SHOULD WE KNOW ABOUT PRODUCT STYLING?

Allison: Break the rigidity. Overlapping items, turning macarons on their side, and breaking up a chocolate bar will give you a chic and effortless look.

D&S: When selecting props, think of your concept. For a Christmas-themed shoot, we evoked a sense of indulgence with royal blue velvet cloth, and hints of winter with a bunch of dried eucalyptus.
