Marble flooring is not a synthetic product. It is an organic material with natural cracks running through the grain. Homeowners need to understand and accept this as part of the stone’s character, or you’ll be continually stressed over every minute crack that forms. Hairline cracks normally do not mar marble’s beauty or spoil its value. It’s best not to set marble in heavy traffic areas such as the hallway or living area as hard knocks, dragged furniture and high heels will scratch and chip the material. Instead of considering legal action, why not invite your contractor over to see if he can help to repair the areas that are the most badly damaged? Bad cracks can be filled in with a matching marble resin binder. Sealing the cracks will prevent marble chips from falling out and halt further loss and damage, and a final polish will restore your floor to its glossy best.
