Your in-laws are coming, and you need your house to be clean and stylish in a jiffy. Follow these simple tips.

First, act as a guest and start from your main door – what clutter do you see and which furniture is out of place? Which area needs some dusting?

Next, pop some fresh hand towels in the bathroom. A clean-looking house is all in the details.

You might not have time for intensive mopping, so give the floor a quick sweep with disposable wipes instead, such as the Magiclean wiper mop.

4/7

Remember to be systematic. Grab a clean laundry basket or large container and move from room to room, clearing unsightly clutter as you go.

5/7

Your guests are going to pop by the kitchen, so make sure your stove tops are as shiny as they can be! It’s hard to believe, but you should remove grease with even more grease. Not too much, though – use drops of mineral or vegetable oil on a paper towel. Simply rub to remove greasy stains and to give it  a nice sheen, and wipe dry afterwards.

6/7

Remove stains from your mugs by using baking soda. Sprinkle some on the stains, add a bit of water to make a paste, and scrub with a damp cloth.

7/7

To make your whole house smell fresh (and delicious) place a tablespoon of vanilla essence in a saucepan of hot water and let it simmer for 15 minutes. If you have a rug in the living room (which unfortunately have not been cleaned as of late) you can freshen it up by sprinkling some baking powder to remove any odour. Wait 15 minutes before vacuuming it all up.
