Project 1: Detached home near Bukit Timah (3,500 sq ft)

This multi-generation family home was extended and renovated to create a self-contained two-bedroom unit for the homeowners’ two grown up children in their late twenties. This would allow them privacy and for them to entertain their friends without disturbing their parents.

The design focuses on the lush surroundings of the home, capitalising on the tropical views and heightening the indoor-outdoor connection to create a seamless experience. These are expressed through the use of natural and textural elements. Think rattan weave ceiling, bespoke botanical themed wallpaper and soft green Venetian plaster. A monkey pendant lamp in the entertainment area adds a whimsical and fun touch, while the use of accent colours, such as a mustard-coloured bed in the daughter’s room injects an energy that reflects her bubbly personality.

The tropical design invokes an overall feeling of warmth and fosters a relaxed, feel-good vibe that makes the home very liveable and brings joy to the family.

Project 2: Two-bedroom condominium near Holland Village (2,000 sq ft)

Home to a couple, who are professionals, and their dog, the project involved a complete hacking of walls, reconfiguration of the layout, as well as new bathrooms, kitchens, lighting, ceiling and interior decoration.

Conceptualised with a modern luxe theme, the clients wanted their home to exude a sense of glamour with rich finishes and bejewelled colours. While the overall colour palette may be neutral, it is the lighting effects that heighten the sense of drama and accentuate the luxurious finishes. Visible from the main living area, the staircase is a design centrepiece that is clad in dramatic stone with tread lighting that illuminates the ascent for maximum effect.

Project 3: Four-bedroom condominium at Grange Road (3,660 sq ft)

The clients’ brief was as much about what they did not want as it was about their wish list. The couple was clear that the family home for them and their two teenage children should not be a show home for the sake of impressing others. It should be liveable, comfortable, teeming with personality, reflect a diverse mix of Chinese, Indian and Japanese cultures and support their lifestyles.

The bespoke living room sofa is a contemporary take on a traditional form that fosters an unfussy feel. It is upholstered with fabric that has a tone-on-tone pattern which is forgiving to stains, an important consideration for a relaxed family lifestyle. The dining room strikes the perfect balance between glamour and function, where a bespoke mirrored dining table and chandelier meet dining chairs with understated button detail and piping, and chinoiserie wall panels. Even the modestly-sized powder room is impactful in its cultural diversity. Every single element comes together to create a cohesive family home.
