Amble through Haji and Bali Lanes in the Kampong Glam district and you are bound to see amazing art adorning the shop fronts of some cafes and bars. Artist Idris Johor, or Prettyfreakyfantasy (Pff) as he prefers to be known, is the man behind those works.

Pff started his career designing props and sets for clubs, making custom items for the likes of Zouk and Attica, and the now-defunct Double O and China Jump. His inception to interior decorating came in 2006 when he met Aileen Tan, the owner of Blu Jaz cafe, who had just moved the cafe and bar to the neighbourhood from Little India. She gave him free reign over the decor of the place, and since then, Pff has worked his magic for the other F&B businesses that have sprung from the Blu Jaz Group, including Mexican bar and restaurant Piedra Negra and Muzium Cafe.

“Surreal fantasy” is how he describes his style. “There is no true meaning behind my works”, says Pff. “I prefer to just let people smile and make up their own happy stories when they see my work.”
