Bishan, a mature residential estate in Singapore, has a unique history. Originally, the area was home to Kwong Wai Siew Peck San Theng, one of Singapore’s largest Chinese cemeteries, established in 1870, and the adjacent Kampong San Teng village. The cemetery was exhumed in the 1980s to make way for urban development, and Bishan New Town emerged as part of Singapore’s public housing expansion strategy.
Bishan’s strategic location, near the central area and well-connected via the MRT (Bishan station opened in 1987), has made it a highly sought-after residential district. It offers a mix of public housing, condominiums, and landed properties, alongside amenities like Junction 8 mall and Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park. The area’s reputation for prestigious schools, such as Raffles Institution, has further enhanced its appeal.
Today, Bishan is known for its vibrant community, green spaces, and rising property values, symbolising Singapore’s transformation from rural villages to modern urban living. Here are some of the most beautiful homes in Bishan.
