Alice Callahan Movies and TV Shows
Alice Callahan Thompson is known for her recurring roles as Jessica on Gossip Girl and guest starring roles on various shows like Law & Order, and Orange is the New Black. She’s also worked with luxury, fashion and beauty brands during her 15-year modeling career.
Her husband, Kyser Thompson, is the president of a marketing consultancy. The two met in the Big Apple and lived in Brooklyn for several years, with the thought of leaving never crossing their minds.
During the pandemic, the couple traveled to Alabama frequently to spend time with their family and soon realised how meaningful it was to be closer to their loved ones. So they decided to purchase a 3,800 sq ft modern farmhouse-style home built in 2020 there.

“We were excited about the opportunity to collaborate with the Thompsons to make an environment that was a nod to their life in New York but would serve all of their family needs now in Birmingham,” says Anna.

A unified colour palette
The renovation included finding a more unified palette for the house. “We established our colours from the existing facade of the house, which features charcoal-stained siding with aging cedar accents, white existing walls and camel-coloured wide-planked oak floors,” says Anna.

“We wanted the interior of the house to carry that same drama but in a more inviting way.”
To achieve this, the formal living room, kitchen millwork and all interior doors were painted the exact same charcoal tone as the exterior.
Sprinkled colours in pillows & artworks
“Alice indicated from the beginning that she likes dusty colors like rose, blue, olive, so we sprinkled those hues throughout the house as pillows or artworks, which made for a really nice accent to the moody palette,” adds Marguerite.
The designers used as many natural materials as possible to infuse a sense of timelessness, opting for oak and walnut for almost every piece of hard furniture, complemented by linen for the drapery and upholstery to soften the atmosphere even further.
“We also used gutsy dark metals or metals with a living finish,” notes Anna.
Mid-Century Modern Furniture and Art
The collection of heirloom mid-century modern furniture and art inspired the newly made pieces. Among them are an old coffee table with geometric marble bases and a square glass top, designed in the late 1970s, which Alice took from her father’s office.
“The Thompsons’ home bridges past and present,” says Anna. “It is modern and approachable with interesting moments and welcoming vibes.” The new home welcomes a new chapter of life.
