Banker Hannah Teo loves her Hermes’ and Chanels and her 2-bedroom condo apartment reflects her appreciation for luxury and timeless elegance. “I got the inspiration from Dubai and London interior designers,” she shares.

Her brief to Jacelyn Chieng, a partner at Summerhaus D’zign was to design an interior that looks like a condo showflat, yet feels homely as she spends a lot of time at home. “We adopted a modern luxe style that is elegant and feminine to reflect Hannah’s character. The style and monochromatic grey-white-black colour scheme were inspired by Chanel, one of her favourite designer brands,” says Jacelyn.

Living Room Design

Bespoke wall panelling extends from the left of the main entrance all the way to the living room. Concealed within these panels are hidden doors to the storeroom and shoe cabinet and the guest bedroom.

Mirror Wall Panels

Interior designer Jacelyn incorporated groove lines into design of the wall panels to camouflage the door openings. Taking into consideration the client’s request for mirrors in the living room and bedrooms, Jacelyn even turned one of these mirrors into yet another hidden door along this wall that hides the washing machine. The mirrored door complements the custom-made, polished finish entrance foyer sideboard beside it.

Marble TV Feature Wall

The centrepiece of the living room is the television feature wall with a slab of marble that has dramatic black-and-white veins extending up to the ceiling. This is homeowner Hannah’s favourite place to be.

“I sit on the sofa and admire the marble television console along with a view of the sea and East Coast Park,” she says. The use of concealed magnetic track lighting keeps things clean and sleek. Turquoise cushions on the cream sofa echo the aquamarine sea along the horizon.

Dining Room

All the furniture within the home is bespoke to ensure the best fit in terms of size, colour, material and finish. The four-seater dining table, in particular, was custom made due to space constraints. It abuts a mirrored wall right beside the entrance to the master bedroom, which also helps to create spatial separation between the open kitchen and the living room. A crystal chandelier requested by Hannah anchors the space from above and reinforces the luxe quality of the space.

Homeowner Hannah wanted all the kitchen cabinet doors replaced to blend in with the new colour theme. As the apartment is brand new, to minimise wastage, the cabinet doors were re-laminated instead of hacking them completely.

“We used the same laminate as the wall panelling to continue a similar language as the rest of the space since it is an open concept kitchen,” interior designer Jacelyn points out. The top hung cabinet doors were replaced with a tinted mirror finish to create a more premium feel. As the ceiling in the kitchen is lower, this change also helps to lighten the overall look.

Full-Height Bed Headboard

The most striking element in the master bedroom has got to be the full height, cushioned headboard. It rises all the way to meet the suspended ceiling, creating a wraparound effect that gives the bedroom a regal feel. Two vertical strips of mirror on either side of the headboard gives the impression of space.

The warmer colour palette with champagne accents up the cosy factor while the wallpaper and rug help to soften the space. The wall opposite the bed had an awkward recess. Interior designer Jacelyn introduced a box-up with a built-in display niche to achieve a flushed result.

Guest Room Design

The second bedroom has been designed as both a guest room as well as Hannah’s walk-in wardrobe. It has a sofa bed, a dressing table and built-in bag display and storage. The pink hues from the swivel vanity chair and framed Hermes scarf add a feminine touch.
