Home Tour: A couple's tiny yet cheerful cartoon themed 1-bedroom condominium
This playful home we saw in 2015!
Step into this charming 506 sq ft comic themed one-bedroom home, and you'll be instantly transported into a whimsical comic book world. Designed by interior designer Carmen Tang of Wolf Woof, this cozy apartment celebrates the homeowners' love for cartoons while cleverly maximizing every inch of space.
From the moment you enter, you'll be greeted by a delightful fusion of white and wood tones, accentuated by vibrant pops of color and quirky comic-inspired elements.
The platform was designed specially to maximise the whole raised area as concealed storage, which is made up of compartments that open in sections.
White and wood interior theme
The heart of this comic themed home is the living area, where the compact open kitchen seamlessly bridges the entrance and cozy gathering space. To keep the area clutter-free, no dining table is required in this efficiently designed abode.
The white and wood themed space is kept looking fresh and exciting with the help of an Astroboy cut-out and pastel furniture. Wall-mounted shelves, a coffee table with a nearly invisible white wire-frame base, and a sofa with tapered wooden legs were carefully selected to keep the raised platform from appearing cluttered.
But the true showstopper is the raised platform itself, ingeniously designed with compartments that open in sections, providing ample concealed storage throughout the entire area.
Next to the bomb shelter, a desk is tucked away in the entrance foyer that doubles as a study. The walls are decorated with personalised graphic stickers.
Comic themed home
Just off the living area, a small study nook has been carved out, showcasing the homeowners' love for comics and their personalities. Graphic stickers adorn the walls, drawing attention away from the functional bomb shelter door and livening up the small space.
The hexagonal pattern adds depth and interest to the white walls, preventing them from appearing bland. Next to the bomb shelter, a sleek desk is tucked away in the entrance foyer, doubling as a compact yet functional study area.
Glass panels- one of which slides to allow access into the bedroom- were installed to replace a solid wall. This allows more light into the small bedroom, and makes it appear larger.
Glass-paneled bedroom
The bedroom is a true oasis of tranquility, where the white and wood theme continues to create a sense of calm and serenity. To maximize natural light and make the space appear larger, glass panels – one of which slides to allow access into the bedroom – were installed in place of a solid wall. This brilliant design choice not only brightens the entire home but also creates a seamless connection between the living and sleeping spaces, making the 506 square feet feel significantly more expansive.
