Home Tour: $50,000 Bright and colourful renovation for a 3-room condominium
Bold and tasteful, don't you love this house from 2016?
Step into this vibrant and colourful condominium, and you'll be greeted by a striking sight – the main door adorned with bold red and orange glass panels. This eye-catching entrance sets the tone for the rest of the home, where bold colours and playful accents come together to create a truly unique and lively living space.
Colourful condominium interior
The homeowners, initially drawn to a minimalist aesthetic, decided to embrace a more daring and colourful approach after living in their 3-bedroom condominium for five years. Without the need for major renovations, they embarked on a transformative makeover by introducing bold pops of colour throughout the apartment.
Interior designer Raymond Seow from Free Space Intent played a pivotal role in this colourful metamorphosis, suggesting the homeowners incorporate bolder hues like vibrant purple, while maintaining a more masculine and moody ambiance in the living area. "Initially, the homeowners were hesitant about introducing purple, as they thought it might be too feminine," recalls Raymond. "However, once they saw the ambience it created in the master bedroom, they were sold on the idea."
Dark, masculine living area
The living area exudes a cozy and sophisticated vibe, with darker, masculine tones setting the mood. Carefully curated tableware from Alessi and a chic throw from Ikea add depth and texture to the space.
The clear glass top and skinny legs of the dining table make it seem less conspicuous. Fruit bowl from Alessi and cups from Tangs.
Bold pops of colour
In the dining area, a clear glass-topped table with slender legs creates an airy and unobtrusive presence, allowing the colourful apartment's other elements to shine. A vibrant fruit bowl from Alessi and stylish cups from Tangs inject pops of colour and personality.
The homeowner didn’t like purple as he thought it would be too feminine, but changed his mind after seeing the ambience it created in the master bedroom. Vase from Dream Interior, clock and tray from Lifestorey.
Soothing purple bedroom
The master bedroom is a true feast for the eyes, with the bold purple hues that initially gave the homeowners pause now serving as the focal point. A sleek vase from Dream Interior, a contemporary clock from Lifestorey, and a chic tray add sophisticated accents to the space.
Raymond added the bench after the shelves went up in the music room.
Bold, bright orange music room
Not to be overlooked, the music room showcases the homeowners' love for music and Raymond's keen eye for design. After installing the eye-catching shelves, Raymond added a cozy bench, creating a inviting nook for the homeowners to indulge in their passion for music.
While the makeover itself cost a modest $35,000 (excluding an additional $15,000 for furnishings), the impact it has had on the overall ambiance and character of the colourful apartment is truly priceless. With its bold colours, playful accents, and careful curation of furnishings and accessories, this three-bedroom condo is a true testament to the power of embracing your individuality and injecting personality into your living space.
