Maisonette dining room renovation

One of the first things Keith did was tear down the storeroom by the main entrance. This opened up the space and created "a bigger, grander entrance and an immediate sense of space," he explains.

The long, slim custom-made dining table is a standout feature in the dining area. Wrapped in a wood-grain laminate, the elongated table visually expands the dimensions of the room. The cement-grey homogeneous floor tiles lend an industrial vibe that pairs well with the neutral, earthy color palette of the maisonette renovation.

With its spacious proportions, industrial touches and comfortable seating, this dining nook is an ideal gathering spot for home-cooked family dinners.

Sleek, open concept kitchen

The kitchen benefits from the open concept layout, connecting seamlessly with the dining space. One of the big changes was replacing the kitchen walls with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors. This created a brighter, more interactive cooking and dining area in the HUDC maisonette.

The modern kitchen features wood laminate cabinetry paired with white countertops. With its bright, modern finishes and spacious layout, this kitchen is designed for both everyday cooking and entertaining guests.

Walk-in wardrobe optimized for storage

Being a spacious HUDC maisonette, there was room for a large walk-in wardrobe to organize clothes and other household items. Keith outfitted the wardrobe with deep drawers and full-height cabinets - big enough to store bulkier items like an ironing board and steamer.

The neutral wood tone cabinets pair nicely with the wardrobe's dark wooden flooring. With customized storage solutions like adjustable shelves and drawer organizers, every inch of space is maximized. The walk-in wardrobe makes keeping the maisonette tidy a breeze. No more rummaging through a crowded closet or tripping over laundered clothes. This well-appointed wardrobe helps maintain the simple, liveable style throughout the home.

This renovated HUDC maisonette shows how updating layouts and finishes can transform compact spaces into comfortable, contemporary homes. The owner now enjoys ample living areas and storage - ideal for both everyday life and welcoming guests.

By opening up the floor plan and boosting natural light, the interior designer created a maisonette that feels more spacious than its square footage would suggest. This home offers inspiration to others looking to reimagine their own HUDC or vintage apartment. With some strategic renovations, these units can be adapted into modern, stylish spaces while retaining their original charm.
