House Tour: Farmhouse meets Victorian meets minimalism in this Punggol flat
Despite having a mix of different styles, this Northshore Drive five-room flat is visually cohesive, thanks to a neutral palette and subtle elements.

It's not often you get three styles in one home, and even rarer that it's pulled off as beautifully as this five-room flat in Northshore Drive. When the homeowners approached Raymond from Ovon Design, they asked for a cosy farmhouse aesthetic, with clean Victorian elements.
As detail was of paramount importance, they took their time to plan everything properly before they began selecting the materials. Spatial flow was another priority, as was storage, since the family had two young children aged 2 and 6.
The resulting look includes overlaid vinyl tiles on the living room, kitchen and bedroom floors, as well as wall and floor tiles for both bathrooms. The design team at Ovon also did full cabinetry works for the living room, kitchen, bathrooms and master bedroom in order to create sufficient storage space for the family.

Size: 1,184 sq ft
Who lives here: A family of four and a helper

In the living room, the design team used subtle overhead beams and wainscoting on the walls for a Victorian touch. An open concept connects the living and dining spaces seamlessly.
For added storage space, Raymond and the design team built in niches on the TV feature wall, giving the family space to display their collection of books and mementos.
The table behind the sofa pulls double duty as a home office for checking emails. To add texture, the design team used rattan for the cabinet doors and abstract artwork in similar earthy and pastel shades.
The open-concept kitchen looks extra spacious, thanks to the use of a mirror, an extra-large refrigerator, and an island counter. These play with visual scale, making the kitchen feel much bigger and more well-integrated into the rest of the space.
There's also a clear glass panel that can be slid into place if the homeowners are doing heavy cooking.
The same wainscoting element is echoed on the kitchen cabinet fronts, with brass pulls to elevate the look. Marble-topped counters and a backsplash in a herringbone pattern help to lend texture.
The master bedroom includes more grey for a restful look. Accessories, like the flowers and cushions, add colour and visual interest.
