You've heard the term casual sophistication, and have seen or felt it in stores or people's homes. But how does one achieve it? Let's take a few lessons from this beautiful home, designed by Austin Bean Design Studio.

Tip #1: Comfort is a priority. Opt for loungey, plush sofas or armchairs instead of something that only looks good.

Tip #2: Sophistication does not necessarily mean everything has to be shiny and polished. Vintage or weathered furniture pieces has an elegance to it, too.

Tip #3: What you display on your walls showcase your personality. If you are well-travelled, showcase exotic souvenirs. An art lover? Curate your best pieces, and make sure they get the spotlight they deserve. The dark wall paint in this home only makes the turtle shells stand out more!

Tip #4: Chandeliers work in a casual home, too. The eclectic pairing of something luxurious with everyday material like wood is interesting!

Tip #5: Greenery makes a whole lot of difference. White flowers, especially peonies and tulips, are crowd favourites as they easily add sophistication to a home.

Tip #6: Don't be afraid to create functional spaces to the home -- your home is not a showroom! We love Austin Bean's idea of a built-in dog crate.

Tip #7: Love the sophistication of hotel bedrooms? Create a similar atmosphere in the bedroom with silky sheets and throw pillows, as well as an ottoman at the foot of your bed.
