House Tour: All Americana style 4-room Yishun HDB BTO for Singaporean couple returning from the US
The homeowners of this effortlessly chic home had lived in the US for an extended period of time, and wanted to "bring a bit of an Americana feel to their apartment", says interior designer Arjan Twilhaar from Aiden T.
Contemporary Interior Style
This 1,216 sq ft (112 sqm) four-room HDB in Yishun was designed in a contemporary and mostly monochromatic style.
"As the owners wanted lots of light flowing through, I opened the walls to the study and kitchen. There's more light at the dining area and an open feel to the home," says Arjan.
Glass Doors
However, to reduce the costs of running air conditioners, Arjan also installed glass doors - the couple can close off parts of the home without losing light.
Cabinet Door Wainscott
The kitchen features wainscoted cabinetry in EDL's Fenix laminate and a marble backsplash.
Washing Machine Carpentry
Arjan designed a small counter space opposite the sink. It houses the washer, and gives the couple extra food prep space.
Study Room
The couple had requested for a study area and a room to play their instruments, so Arjan designed this multi-purpose room.
Common Bathroom
This common bathroom was transformed into a powder room - with no shower, the space can afford a large vanity area.
On the other hand, the master bathroom has a larger shower area and small vanity area.
Wood Vinyl Flooring
The wood-look vinyl flooring from Wood Culture gives the home a warm atmosphere.
