The owner of this four-room DBSS flat in Boon Keng wanted a cosy little bachelorette pad to call her own; a functional space livened up with quirky details. To meet these requirements, interior designer Carmen Tang of Wolf Woof conceptualised a monochromatic Scandinavian space featuring prints and patterns.
The 1,022sqf space was dressed in earthy and black-and-white hues; this toned down palette prevents the motifs and patterns from overwhelming the home.
Carmen customised a banquette for the homeowner, made up of a metal bar and a fabric which was designed in-house. "We chose a modern yet retro pattern and paired it with tanned leather straps. I have been a fan of tanned leather for the longest time, and this design is sophisticated and fun at the same time," says the homeowner.
A humorous black-and-white decal was designed for the kitchen. It says, "Today's menu choices: Eat it or starve." The under-$40,000 renovation cost includes bespoke details like these.
A polka-dot wallpaper, printed cushion covers, and quirky wall art give the room a relaxed yet fun look.
The wood-look laminate for the wardrobe, laid in a chevron pattern, was designed to look like it was carved into natural wood.
Carmen says, "The stag head anchors the balcony, forming the backdrop for chill-out sessions aroun the table."
