House Tour: A gorgeous 600sqf apartment in Hong Kong with wood and pastel blue hues
By Home & Decor Team -
Despite the small space in this 600sqf apartment in Chai Wan, Hong Kong, the interior designers from Jaak and homeowners did not limit themselves when it came to the design.
The living room sits infront of windows that lend the space a bright, cosy ambience. Finishes chosen for the home were primarily in white, grey, wood and pastel blue to achieve Scandinavian-style interiors.
Storage was a key concern here, and customising cabinetry for that purpose was a must. In the living room, the TV console is designed with overhead cabinets as well as a sliding door next to it that hides a nook, which provides more storage space.
The design of the TV console extends to the kitchen cabinetry for a seamless look that connects both areas. A dining table in a similar wood accent sits between these two spaces, and also offers more seats in this common area especially when the homeowners invite guests over.
To play up on the linearity here, white square tiles with turquoise grouts fill the backsplash for an added visual appeal.
A geometric-patterned sideboard in turquoise sits next to the dining table to offer more countrertop display space and storage.
More storage space is incorporated in the bedroom, with underfloor cabinetry designed at the foot of the bed. When closed up, it acts as countertop space, or even as a study table.
To create a sense of spaciousness in the bedroom, the designer decided on hacking half of the wall of the bathroom and replace it with black framed glass windows. This strategy also keeps the bathroom from looking claustrophobic.
The design of this small-space apartment truly showcases how good design and clever strategies add livability to a home.
