Such a stunning home from 2015...

Taking inspiration from the urban contemporary appeal of New York lofts, interior designer William Chan of Spacedge Designs transformed this five-bedroom condominium apartment into a New York loft-style home that plays up its spaciousness. And in order to achieve that, a minimalist approach to styling was taken, and the spaces were injected with Scandinavian and Japanese aesthetics.

The heart of this all white apartment is undoubtedly the living room, a breathtaking space that exudes an effortless sense of grandeur. Immerse yourself in the consistent color palette of pristine white walls and floors, complemented by tan-colored mid-century modern furniture that adds warmth and character. The removal of railings on the steps further enhances the sense of openness, allowing the space to flow seamlessly.

Adjacent to the living room, a cozy and understated television area awaits. Anchored by a dark-colored sofa, this space strikes the perfect balance between visual lightness and coziness with the addition of a transparent Eero Aarnio Bubble chair hanging gracefully beside it. This thoughtful design choice creates an inviting ambiance for relaxation and entertainment.

To break up the expansive white walls and add a touch of personality, the designer has strategically grouped paintings and decor accessories into casual vignettes throughout the home. This relaxed way of displaying medium-sized art not only adds visual interest but also infuses the space with a laidback charm that perfectly complements the New York loft-style aesthetic.

For a stylish contrast, jet black dining chairs have been thoughtfully selected, creating a Scandinavian-inspired monochromatic dining space that exudes sophistication and elegance.

White open concept kitchen

Initially a closed off L-shaped space, the kitchen was opened up to enable the missus to cook and bake in a more welcoming environment. To prevent cooking fumes from escaping this open-plan area, an aesthetically pleasing and practical recessed cooker hood was installed. The kitchen islands extends out into a casual breakfast counter that's paired with matt silver bar stools for a contemporary twist.
