This five-room HDB resale apartment in Toa Payoh is home to a couple who wanted an earthy colour palette so that they can showcase brightly coloured furniture and art pieces they own.

Designed by Fineline, this 1,400sqf apartment was transformed into a cosy abode. The entrance foyer sets the tone for the rest of the home, with wood accents and warm lighting to lend a welcoming ambience.

A standout piece in the living room is the blue sofa. Behind it, walls were replaced with black framed glass windows to create an openness in the space, while allowing light to filter in.

The TV console and feature wall are cladded in light brown and wood-look shades to complement the overall colour scheme. Black and white bamboo blinds add an interesting and vintage feel to the area.

A lighter colour palette of light wood and white is chosen for the kitchen. To add texture, the designers chose patterned tiles for the backsplash.

One of the requirements the homeowners raised was to have lots of storage space, so the master bedroom was designed to house a walk-in wardrobe and spacious master bathroom.

A strategy to create the illusion of a larger, longer corridor here was to place a full-length mirror at the end of the walkway. This way, it also makes for a perfect space for the homeowners to dress up in.

Two bathrooms were combined to create this large master bathroom, which now has the luxury of space to accommodate a bath tub. A niche was created and cladded with black and white patterned tiles to offer just enough space for bathroom accessories and an eye-catching feature in this intimate space. The homeowners spent $85,000 (excluding furnishings) for their renovation.
