Renovated by Free Space Intent, this HDB flat was given a modern update.

Prevoiusly, although spacious, it had a dated look and an inefficient layout. The designers gave it an eye-catching geometric look, incorporating simple, subtly textured surfaces and customised built-in carpentry.

See the before-and after-renovation photos in the following slides!

Before: Living area

Roomy, but cluttered, due to many pieces of mismatched furniture.

After: Living area

In the living room, the long cabinet conceals the TV behind sliding pocket doors.

Patterns, such as hexagonal tessellations, were integrated into the built-in furniture to break the monotony.

The living area is done up in neutral tones and contemporary furniture.

Before: Dining room

The space, with a longish layout, is also a thoroughfare that leads to the bedrooms. The extra space was used as a pantry.

After: Dining area

A small study was added, to make better use of the room's long layout. For this semi-open concept, louvred windows and glass panels in differnet sizes were installed over a half-wall.

The original kitchen wall was demolished to make way for a dry kitchen (with a smaller wet kitchen).

As for the dining area ceiling, structural beams were painted contrasting black to become a design feature.

Before: Kitchen

Large, but not space-efficient.

After: Kitchen

A separate dry kitchen provides plenty more countertop and storage space. A window between the dry kitchen and wet kitchen makes serving food easier, as well as allows more light through.

The new galley-style wet kitchen allows everything to be within easy reach.

The bathrooms now have a more upscale look, featuring dark tiles that have a metallic sheen.
