This four-bedroom apartment in Somerset is home to an elderly couple in their 70s, who wanted warm and modern interiors.
Eddy Kuswandiʼs (design director of Enoch ID) design strategy was to use neutral shades such as beige and khaki as the dominant colours to set the mood for a cosy ambience.
Customised Sofa
A customised L-shaped sofa defines the living room space, while still maintaining a sense of connection with the adjacent dining room.
The feature wall in the living room is a composition of Mondrian-inspired grids, with a mirrored finish set against a backdrop of leather with a stingray skin texture.
This serves to give it a comfortable yet modern feel.
Dining Room
Dark oak elements found in the coffee table, sofa legs and in the dining table and chair set from Le Mercier help to ground the entire scheme within the neutral palette and the white Volakas marble floor.
The use of mirrors over storage cabinets in the dining room creates the illusion of space.
Built-In Cabinets
Building the cabinets all the way up to the ceiling makes good use of the vertical space, and the additional storage helps to keep the home clutter-free.
Master Bedroom
As the master bedroom is relatively small, Eddy designed a low-height headboard that extends from wall to wall. This has the effect of making the room appear wider than it actually is.
Bay Window
The bay window doubles as a seating area within the room, and Eddy ingeniously made provisions for the flat screen television to slide in flushed with the wall-hung shelving, creating a sleek solution that minimises the intrusion into a limited space.
