There’s a particular elegance associated with well-appointed hotel rooms, and this exquisite 3,229 sq ft Shenzhen apartment is the ultimate embodiment of that refined sophistication. The residence stands as a testament to hotel-inspired interior design, meticulously crafted to create a living space that transcends the ordinary.

Belonging to a well-heeled elderly gentleman with a discerning eye for luxury, this Shenzhen apartment was brought to life through a creative collaboration with interior design company Shenzhen Super Normal Design.

Interior designed according to needs

The interior design journey was nothing short of extraordinary. To truly capture the essence of a world-class hotel experience, the design team embarked on an extensive research expedition, traversing through Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Hong Kong, and even venturing into Italy.

Their mission was to explore the finest hotels, source exceptional furniture, and discover unique materials that could transform this Shenzhen apartment into a remarkable living space. Going above and beyond, the team meticulously studied the function rooms of the homeowner’s other residences, ensuring a tailor-made environment that speaks directly to his lifestyle and preferences.

Hotel-inspired interior design

The interiors are a masterclass in hotel-inspired interior design, defined by a clean and modern masculine aesthetic that exudes sophistication. An open layout amplifies the sense of space, creating a loftiness that is both impressive and inviting.

The design achieves a delicate balance of calm and vibrancy through the thoughtful contrast of stone and wood textures, while carefully selected art paintings inject life and personality into the space. The result is a sanctuary that feels simultaneously serene and dynamic.

Curved plush sofa

The well-edited curation of furniture was sourced from the likes of Armani Dada, B&B Italia, Poltrona Frau and Minotti.

In the living room dominated by hard lines and sleek fittings, the gentle curve of a plush sofa, cushy velvet upholstery, subtle patterns and an elegant marble table soften the ambience and make for cosy interactions between host and his guests.

Bar collection display

The homeowner’s personal history adds a layer of depth to the Shenzhen apartment’s design. Having worked as a bartender in the US during his youth, he developed a profound appreciation for spirits and wines. This passion is beautifully reflected throughout the home, with carefully curated displays of his extensive wine collection, Italian crystal, and cherished auction paintings that tell stories of his life and travels.

Balcony with city view

Thoughtful design extends to every corner of the apartment. The balcony, overlooking the dynamic Shenzhen cityscape, features a verdant green wall that introduces natural beauty while maintaining a clutter-free aesthetic. The bedroom serves as a subdued sanctuary, dressed in off-whites and neutral tones, with sumptuous sheets and elegant furnishings that promise a restful retreat.

Hotel-inspired bathroom

The bathroom exemplifies the hotel-inspired interior design philosophy, blending classic and modern elements. Sand-hued marble and sleek metal fittings create an atmosphere of understated luxury, while a wide window floods the space with natural light and offers a breathtaking view during leisurely soaks.

Multipurpose spaces at home

A unique feature of this Shenzhen apartment is a multipurpose space that defies traditional study conventions. Functioning as a wine and cigar bar, entertainment room, and personal library, it reflects the homeowner’s multifaceted lifestyle.

Here, he can unwind with a good book, enjoy a movie, savor a fine cigar, or relish a glass of wine. As the Super Normal Design team eloquently puts it, “It is as rich and varied as old wine, matching perfectly with the personality of the owner.”

Open plan kitchen

The open kitchen, featuring a champagne-hued counter from Armani Dada’s kitchen line, is another focal point where the homeowner spends considerable time. Stone grey flooring strategically separates the kitchen from other living spaces while harmonizing with the apartment’s muted color palette, further enhancing the cohesive hotel-inspired interior design.

This Shenzhen apartment is more than just a living space—it’s a carefully orchestrated experience that reflects the artistry of design, the depth of personal history, and the timeless elegance of luxury hospitality.
