Renovated by MMJ Design Loft, this 3-bedroom HDB apartment was given a snazzy transformation.

Prior to the revamp, the flat was not only small and cramped, but also had a rather inefficient layout. All the client, requested was a mid-century modern theme, and left everything else up to the designers.

Doorway

The designer did away with the typical unsightly HDB flat gate and warm wood door, replacing it with a more neutral-toned door with a handy digital lock.

Living Room

The living room was rather small, so the designers made sure to keep the amount of furniture used to a minimum. A big black sofa allows the homeowner's friends and family to lounge comfortably when they visit, while a smaller coffee table was chosen to free up some space.

Kitchen

One of the most challenging aspects of the renovation was trying to fit a kitchen island into such a tiny space. As such, they hacked down the wall between the living room and the kitchen, turning it into an open concept. Since the homeowner enjoys hosting dinner at home, the designers felt that a kitchen island with an adjoining dining table was perfect – this way, she can cook while interacting with guests!

Bathroom

The bathroom was previously too dark, so the designers gave it a fresher look by replacing the black tiles with lighter wooden ones that cohere with the mid-century modern theme.

Bedroom

To make the small bedroom look more spacious, the designers made use of white cabinets for the wardrobe. Adding a cosy feel to the space, a furry grey rug was used to anchor the room.
