This beautiful 3,770sqf three-storey semi-detached house is home to a couple in their 50s and their two young adult children. Designed by Kelvin Lim of Atelier Here, it features a contemporary aesthetic, with a mostly white colour palette and clean structural lines.
"As the house is sandwiched between a park in front and a forested hill behind, the idea was to bring in visually the surrounding lush greenery, " explains Kelvin.
The living room enjoys a lofty ceiling — a passageway on the second storey overlooks the double-volume space. White space is punctuated and defined by stark black lines and complemented by warm wood tones.
Light filters into the living space, and glimpses of park foliage can be caught, through the grid window panel feature on the front of the house. As the natural light from the front and skylight above the staircase shifts throughout the day, the mood and feel of the space alters accordingly.
Located below the second storey thoroughfare and near the entrance, the family prayer space with a reflecting pool is the first thing seen upon entering. The prayer space is a serene sanctuary bathed in daylight, screened off from the main living area by an eight-metre long display, bookshelf and storage cabinet.
Extending outwards of the house's rectilinear form on one side, the dining space was designed to blur the distinction between being indoors and al fresco, when having meals.
