Capitalising on its historical cachet (this development was built in the 1960s), interior designer Dess Chew of Three-D Conceptwerke conceptualised a modern interior infused with a warm, retro vibe for this 2-storey home in Katong.
Orange Brick Wall
The first storey, which houses the living and dining areas, the kitchen and a balcony, was spruced up with a vibrant orange brick wall running the length of the living space.
Vintage Armchair
The vintage armchair and custom TV console add to the 1960s-type ambience of the place.
Patterned Concrete Floors
Heavily patterned concrete floor tiles liven up the look in the balcony, with lightbulbs in bird cages above adding a quirky touch.
Retro Kopitiam Kitchen
The kitchen, although dressed in stark white, provides similar throwbacks to the past, with a kopitiam-style dining table and chairs, and slate grey concrete screed flooring.
Simple Bedroom Design
The bedrooms upstairs were kept simply furnished, with just a few key retro pieces such as the wooden writing desk, to add interest yet fulfill practical functions.
Framed Poster Decor
A framed number "5" us one of the few obvious decorations in the pared-down space.
Glass Bathrooms
"We used a lot of clear glass and wall mirrors to reflect and bounce light throughout the space, which gives the bath areas a big, open feel," says Dess of the bathrooms.
"The roller blinds can be used if privacy is needed."
