House Tour: Neutral colour palette and wood furniture add elegance to this four-bedroom condo unit
This four-bedroom condominium apartment in Upper Bukit Timah is home to a couple and their three kids. Furnished in what interior designer Benjeemen Heng calls "a modern London style", the home has coffee tones, dark wood and classic furniture lines.
The ebony woods that dominate the dining area are given a touch of luxe when paired with the stylish square-cut crystal and silk shades of the Lartigue chandelier from UK design firm Porta Romana. Due to its five-figure price tag, the couple tried to find a similar light elsewhere, but nothing came close.
Rather than clutter table tops with frames, the homeowners chose to display photos on the wall, put up in a grid arrangement with strong, dark frames to unify the montage.
Coffee hues, from espresso-dark wood furniture to cafe au lait walls, tie the look together. The family requires lots of storage space for their library of books.
In the master bedroom, sliding panels conceal the walk-in wardrobe on the left and recessed bookcase on the right. Faux Nappa leather laminate gives them a luxe look.
For the children's bedroom, Benjeemen drew a tree wall decal. The vinyl flooring here is not glued down, making it easy to revert to parquet floors when the kids are older.
All the bed frames in the children's rooms have additional storage built in, wth pull-out boxes below. The bay windows have been turned into desks with adjoining bookcases.
For the daughter's room, she chose this bunny wallpaper to add a charming touch. She also painted her own interpretation of it, which now hangs above the bed.
