House Tour: Stylish makeover for 5-storey Sembawang townhouse

Initially the owners of this 3,200sqf five-room townhouse in Sembawang only wanted to do minor renovations. But it soon became clear to them that most of the house needed to be reworked. With the help of Joey Khu of Project File, they managed to complete the renovation in six months.

In the kitchen, the laminate, solid surfaces and appliances in dark tones are used to contrast against the natural light from the windows.

A tall feature-wall-and-TV console unit demarcates the living room space and also hides the stairs.

Lots of built-in storage has been incorporated in the feature wall.

Despite the basement being out of sight, it's still decked in lively tilework to enliven the dark space.

Recessed niches in the attic house backlit movie posters, bringing a cinema  look to the entertainment room.

The attic was converted into a home theatre. The false ceiling of the space was removed to accentuate its loft-like feel.

The master bedroom is kept deliberately simple and cosy with carpeted floors and muted tones.
